87, of Overhill Dr., West Warwick, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Coventry Skilled Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Madeline J. (Pierson) Poccia. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Antonio and Conchetta (Paone) Poccia. Anthony worked for the State of RI Port Authority for fifteen years before retiring. He also served as President of the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church. A member of the Country Hall of Fame, Anthony played steel guitar for 66 years with the Eddy Zack Band and performed weekly on television from 1951 to 1953. He also performed on the N.B.C. Coast to Coast Radio Show and has recordings on the Decca Label.

Anthony was the devoted father of Diane M. Myers, Michael A. Poccia, Robert J. Poccia and David J. Poccia; loving grandfather of Derrek, Ryan, Nicole and Marcus; and dear brother of Amadeo Poccia, Arthur Poccia, and the late Joseph Poccia, Marie Ricci, Fran Messick and Gus Poccia.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Saturday at 8:45 am., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence St., West Warwick at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
