Passed into eternal rest on April 20, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded in love and support by her husband, children, and grandchildren.

A native of Rhode Island, she was the daughter of Albert Lussier and Marjorie (Stone) Lussier. Carol graduated from Cranston High School East in 1966 and then attended Rhode Island College.  Following her studies, she took a position at the Rhode Island Hospital in the Pediatrics Unit.

Carol married Dr. Joseph R. Salvatore, and the couple settled in Cranston, RI. Because of the expertise that she developed in medical billing, Carol started Doctor’s Billing Service in Rhode Island, and continued that business until the family moved to Arizona in 1995.  In Arizona she went to work for a large private Obstetrics-Gynecology practice in which she was both in the front office and was Administrator of the billing office.

Following her work in the private medical office, Carol took a position at the Paradise Valley Community College and remained there until she retired.

During the time that Carol was employed in Arizona, she answered another calling and began a long association as a Volunteer with Saint Vincent de Paul in Phoenix. As a Volunteer she gave unselfishly of her time to the homeless and others in need, especially to help with the provision and distribution of needed basic supplies, and for meals, particularly during the Holiday Season. She had always felt that this was some of the most important work that she performed in her life. In keeping with her strong devotion to Volunteerism, Carol had also been active in AmeriCorps.

Carol was an avid knitter and reader of Mystery novels. Many of the things that she knit were for her Grandchildren, whom she adored.

She is survived by her husband Joseph R. Salvatore, MD, Children Jennifer Salvatore, Joseph R. Salvatore, Jr., and Adrienne Cary, Grandchildren Caroline Grace Cary, Catherine Stone Cary, Carter Joseph Cary, Mia Carol Salvatore and Leo Joseph Salvatore, Brothers Mark Lussier and Brian Lussier, Daughter-in-Law Kathryn Salvatore, Son-in-Law, Kelly Clinton Cary, MD, Sisters-in-Law Louise Lussier, Kristen Lussier and Allegra Giordano, Brother-in-Law Robert Giordano, Nieces Alexandra Lussier and Bethany Maccarone, and Nephew Christopher Lussier.

A celebration of life will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Kindly omit flowers.
