David Reidy Obituary

78, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was the loving husband of his true love Judith (Lautieri) Reidy. He was born in Weymouth, MA on May 17, 1939. He was the son of the late John Francis and Mary Anne (Browne) Reidy. Besides his wife, he leaves his two adored children, David A. Reidy of Stuart, Florida and Dierdre (Jeffery) Clark of Portola Valley, CA.

He leaves his sisters, Anne F. (d.) Gerard Sepe and Kathleen M. Manzi (John) and a brother Sean-John F. Reidy "Jack" (d. Jaqueline). all of Cranston, RI and the late Robert Reidy. He also leaves his grandchildren David A. and Andrew G. Reidy and Juliana Clark along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and his faithful companion "Petey Reidy".

David was a graduate of Cranston High School (Class of '57) and The University of Rhode Island (Class of '64) with a BA in Education. He played football as a defensive end through high school and college. He brought both virility and dignity to his team and the sport.

He was an avid and loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

He began his teaching career at N. Kingstown High School. He was a mentor to many students. He moved on to become a sales manager for Keystone and Bearings, Inc.

He later returned to teaching as a permanent substitute at West Warwick High School. David enjoyed cooking, Sunday's at the bocce court with his family and friends, sailing and being on the ocean. David and Judy enjoyed traveling to Block Island and frequently visited family and friends in California.

David was a voracious reader who enjoyed the classics, Irish literature and contemporary novels, especially those with a historical perspective. He was lover of knowledge and a lifelong learner.

VISITING HOURS will take place on Friday, February 9th from 4-7 p.m.  His Funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday, February 10th at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence St., West Warwick, RI. Burial will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Donations may be made in David's name to Mary/St. Patrick's Soup Kitchen, 178 Smith St., Providence, RI 02907.
