77, of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.  He was the beloved husband of the late Marie C. (Chirico) Lemoi.  Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Mary R. (Howard) Lemoi.

He started his career as an industrial arts teacher at Cranston High School West.  He held multiple positions throughout his life including: Vice President of A. L. Nellum and Associates and Regional Manager of National Alliance of Business. He returned to public education in 1990 as the Director of the Cranston Area Career & Technical Center. 

He was the Principal at Cranston West from 1995-2006. As the Principal his goal was to motivate and push students to fulfill their potential. He loved what he did. He never missed an event whether it was academic, social, artistic or athletic. He would say his core belief was “happy students do better in school”. It was truly amazing to see how many people would thank him when they saw him after they graduated. He was a source of inspiration and impacted so many lives.

He was dedicated to youth and high school sports coaching wrestling and football. He loved attending the Falcon football games and wrestling matches. He was an accomplished wrestler and football player. This was evident by his induction into the RI Wrestling Hall of Fame and Cranston Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame. He believed that the lessons learned playing sports were integral to developing student’s character throughout their lives.

During his career he received numerous awards including: Claiborne Pell Award for Outstanding Career and Technical Center Director, Rhode Island Association of Secondary Principle of the Year Award and the Milken Family Foundation Award.

He was the loving father of Dr. Andrew J. Lemoi and his wife Kim of Cranston, cherished grandfather of Tiffany Martin, beloved great grandfather of Madison Martin and dear brother of Jacqueline Sarandrea of Johnston, Karen Senecal of St. Augustine, FL, Carol Carroccio of Johnston, Michael Lemoi of Cranston and the late Andrea Apicerno. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston.  Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS are Monday from 4 - 8 p.m.
