Eileen L. (O'Connell) McGwin

March 12, 1937 ~ September 23, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old


80, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center RI, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Mark E. McGwin, Jr. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Louise (Carney) O’Connell.

Eileen first worked for Optometrist Dr. Everett Federici in Cranston, and then went on to work for the State of RI Health and Human Services before retiring. She was a lifelong communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. Her fondest memories were vacationing with her family and friends on Newfound Lake in Bristol, NH for over 50 years. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children, Mark E. McGwin, III and his wife Diane of North Attleboro, MA, Maureen E. Geller and her husband Arnie of Warwick, Mary E. Leach and her husband Alfred of Mapleville, and Marcia E. Ciriello and her husband Patrick of New York, NY; cherished grandchildren, Mark and Katherine McGwin, Joshua and David Geller, Sean and Brendan Leach, Jade and Isabella Ciriello; dear brother William H. O’Connell, Jr. Ret. Sgt. PPD and his wife Christine of Narragansett. She also leaves her cousin and dear friend Maureen Deschene.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday at 8:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. VISITING HOURS will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 – 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701.
