of Saunderstown, passed away on June 18, 2017 surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Deborah R. (Lowery) Gaines.  Raised in East Providence, Ernie was the son of Ernest and Sandra (DeMendonca) Gaines of Riverside.  He was a graduate of URI in engineering and business, SigEp president, and president and founder of Brave River Solutions in Warwick. Ernie lived life to the fullest and loved skiing, hockey, boating, and spending time with family and friends.

He is also survived by his cherished children Alyssa, Victoria, and Leah Gaines, all of Saunderstown.  Ernie was the dear brother of Sheri A. Forsythe of Riverside.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Catholic Mass at St. Francis of Assisi, 114 High Street, Wakefield on Friday at 10:30 a.m.  VISITING HOURS: Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt.1A) Narragansett.  Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Ernie Gaines.
