Richard J. DelFino, Sr.

March 23, 1928 ~ November 12, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old


of Johnston passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2017, in the company of his loving family and friends. Richard was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 64 years Evelyn "Marie" DelFino who passed away just 14 weeks ago. Richard was a lifelong resident of Johnston "Simmonsville", who resided and raised his family in the original homestead of his parents and grandparents. He was the son of the late Anthony " Felix" DelFino and Margaret "Esposito" DelFino. Richard was a proud Army Veteran of World War II and Korea. Richard was employed for 35 years by the Town of Johnston Highway Department as Highway Supervisor. After retiring he owned and operated "Doughboys by Richard" a business and hobby he thoroughly enjoyed which allowed him to meet what would become his truest and dearest friends. Richard was a lifelong parishioner of St. Rocco's Church. Richard enjoyed cooking for family and friends, working in his yard and the yards of his children and grandchildren, and could regularly be seen riding the neighborhood in his golf cart. Richard was loved, respected, will never be forgotten and so very missed.

Richard was the beloved father of Richard J. DelFino Jr. and his wife Debra of Johnston, Peter DelFino and his wife Maggie of Punta Gorda, FL. He was the cherished grandfather of Richard J. DelFino III and his wife Ariana, David DelFino and his girlfriend Arielle, and Vincent DelFino. He was the proud and loving great-grandfather of Richard J. DelFino IV. Richard is also survived by his brother Anthony DelFino of Providence. Richard, along with his wife, were blessed to have such wonderful family and dearest friends, all of whom were loved dearly.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, Johnston. Burial, with Military Honors, will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: St. Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, RI 02919 or St. Rocco School, 931 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, RI 02919.
