passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Steere House in Providence.  She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Capece.  Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annunciata " Nancy" (Nuceroni) DeMatteo; devoted mother of Penny Ferrara of West Warwick and the late Pamela N. Capece; loving grandmother of Rachel Ferrara and Lena Capece; and dear sister of Rita Guido of FL.

Rose “Posie” took pleasure in taking care of others; professionally as a bookkeeper and also personally as the matriarch of her family. Her love and compassion had an impact on all who knew her. The holidays meant so much to her and everything she cooked and decorated had to be just right. At any time you could walk into her home and have a delicious meal ready in no time. She will be deeply missed.

Our family would like to express our deep appreciation to the staff at Steere House not only for their compassion but for going above and beyond what was necessary. During her time there she was treated like family and at the end of her life she was shown dignity, grace and an outpouring of affection. We always took comfort knowing she was in good hands. Thank you for everything.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 20th at 10 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS are Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Steere House, 100 Borden St., Providence, RI 02903.
