83, of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Sands. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James and Julia (Crossley) McCarthy. Sheila worked for the Census Bureau for the Federal Government for over 20 years until her retirement.

Sheila enjoyed playing bridge with her lifelong friends. They made countless memories traveling to California, Italy, and Ireland.  She also enjoyed spending summers at the Bonnet Shores Beach Club and hosting the ‘after beach’ gatherings at her home.

She will be remembered for her contagious laugh and smile along with her love for all of her family.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Natalie Lloyd and her husband Robert of Wakefield, Laurie Campbell and her husband John of North Kingstown and Kathryn Palmer and her husband Douglas of Maine. She was also the cherished grandmother of 5 and great grandmother of 5.

Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10 am from the Nardolillo Funeral Home SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (Rt. 1A) Narragansett, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Veronica’s Chapel, Narragansett. Burial will take place in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
