Velia L."Valia" (Di Santo) Del Vicario

April 12, 1921 ~ December 7, 2016 (age 95) 95 Years Old


 

95, of Johnston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Raffaele “Ralph” Del Vicario. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Eugenio and Clelia “Maria” (Valente) Di Santo. Valia was a chief clerk for the State of Rhode Island for ten years before her retirement in 1986. She was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1939. Valia was a member of United Commercial Travelers.

 

Valia is survived by her loving children, Sheila Grossi and her husband Philip of Johnston, Sharyne Cerullo and her husband Paul of Jupiter, FL, and Laurie Garnett and her husband John of Johnston, and her beloved nephew Walter “Gene” Di Santo.  She was the cherished grandmother of Sheri, Jessica, Tamara, Laurie, Michael, and Amy, and was the great-grandmother of William, Zachary, Ethan, and Valia. She was the sister of Claudia “Gladys” Domenico, Alice Esposito and her husband Joseph, Edna Micheletti, and Walter Di Santo, all of Cranston. She was the sister of the late Tomassino “Tommy” Di Santo, and Olga De Felice. Valia is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph Church, Danielson Pike, Corner Rte. 116, North Scituate. Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI 02917.
