Barbara H. (Farrow) Gross

94, a lifelong Cranston resident, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of sixty-nine years to Russell B. Gross, Sr. Born in Cranston, she was a daughter of the late George R.E. and Annie (Perry) Farrow. Barbara was a Registered Nurse and was employed by various hospitals in the Providence area for over thirty years before retiring in 1970. She was a US Army veteran serving in the Army Nurse Corps during WW II. Barbara was a charter member of the Women’s Memorial in Washington, DC. She was a communicant of St. David’s on the Hill Episcopal Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her loving son Russell B. Gross, Jr. of Attleboro, MA. Barbara was the cherished grandmother of Quentin R. Furey of Milford, MA. She was the sister of the late Lorraine B. Gross. Barbara was the granddaughter of the late Chief Sachem Alfred G. Perry of the Narragansett Indian Tribe.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in St. David’s on the Hill Episcopal Church, 200 Meshanticut Valley Parkway, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held in the church on Thursday morning from 9:30  to 10:45 a.m.

Burial with Military Honors will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
