John A. Messier

February 20, 1939 — March 16, 2018

John A. Messier

of Johnston, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence.  He was the husband of the late Barbara M. (Stone) Messier whom he loved and adored more than anything.  Born in Warwick, he was the son of the late John and May (Fairman) Messier.

John was a mechanic and machinist who enjoyed fixing and selling things with his sons. He was the former owner of John’s Sunoco in North Scituate from 1971 to 1977; owned apartment houses in RI and NH in the 80’s; was the former owner of Norge Town Laundry in Johnston from 1978 to 1981; and worked at various machine shops, the last being his own, BJM Screw Products in North Providence.  John enjoyed slot cars from the 60’s; was a member of the Hot Rod Club “The Cranks” at Oakland Beach in the 60’s; and enjoyed playing senior softball and basketball.

He is survived by his two sons, Michael A. Messier and John J. Messier and his wife Audrey, all of Johnston; cherished grandfather of Marissa Messier and John Messier, Jr.; loving great-grandfather of Arella and Ezlynn; and was the dear brother of the late Joan Maguire.  He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday, March 23rd at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston. VISITING HOURS are Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
