89, of Cranston, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Cedar Crest Nursing & Rehabilitation in Cranston.  He was the beloved husband of Louise (Macera) Scungio.  Born in Johnston, Michael was the son of the late William and Elvira (Martinelli) Scungio.  Mr. Scungio was an Army Veteran serving during WWII.  Michael was the plant superintendent for Marshall & Williams for 55 years, before retiring.  He was also a proud member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Leo Council.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children William M. Scungio and his wife Linda, Deborah J. Cardin and her husband Philip, all of Cranston, and Gregory M. Scungio and his wife Elaine of Warwick.  Michael was the cherished grandfather of Marc and Michael Cardin, Alyssa Grenier and Matthew Scungio, and Arianna and Christian Scungio.  He was the great grandfather of Alexandra, Maxwell, Ella, Sean, Renee, Taylor, Olivia, Jacob and Michael.  Mr. Scungio was the brother of Louise Macera of FL and Janet Rossi of North Smithfield.  He was also the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Apostles Catholic Church, Cranston at 11:00 a.m.  Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS: Friday MORNING 8:00-10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Amedisys Foundation, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914 or RI Services for the Visually Impaired, 40 Fountain Street, Providence, RI 02903.
