Susan D McCarthy

Susan D. McCarthy, 69, of Cranston, passed away on April 6, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born in Cranston, the daughter of the late William and Doris (Chamberlin) McCarthy.

Susan was a registered nurse before retiring from the VA Medical Center in 2019. She received her nursing degree in 1977 from the University of Rhode Island. She enjoyed a life full of laughter and adventure while traveling frequently with her close friends.

She is survived by her dear siblings: Joseph Deslauriers (Carolyn), Carol Vanasse (Peter), and William Deslauriers; her loving niece, Tiffany Floody, and her daughter, Chloe, whom she helped raise; and her nephew and godchild, Jason Floody (Gina). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who were embraced as family and affectionately referred to her as "Auntie". Susan was also the sister of the late Arlene Wilson, Frances Floody, and Fredrick Deslauriers.

Her visitation will be held on Monday, April 15th.  from 4-8 p.m. at The NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning , April 16th.  from the funeral home at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, Johnston. In remembrance of Susan, attendees are asked to incorporate either her favorite color, purple, or shamrocks for her favorite holiday, St. Patrick's Day. Burial will be private.
