92, of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Providence VA Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Norma (Iadelucca) Hill for 70 years. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Fred and Pauline (Roos) Hill. Melvin enlisted in the military when he was seventeen years old. He joined the Army, in which he was assigned to the unit (e.g. 8th Army, Corps, Division, Regiment, Company): 2nd division,15th field artillery, and arrived at Busan in July 1950. As a truck driver, he traveled from Busan, Seoul, and up to the Yalu River. He fought hand-to-hand at the Yalu River against 300,000 Chinese. After being pushed back to the 38th parallel and spending thirteen months at the front line, Melvin Hill was sent home. Melvin received three Bronze Stars and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation award for his outstanding efforts shown during his time in Korea. He was a former Commander of KWVA West Bay RI Chapter 2. A former president of CLCF and coached hockey and baseball for many years. Melvin was known to always help the neighborhood kids out and loved spending time with his family.

Besides his wife Norma, he is survived by his loving children, Jeffrey Hill and his wife Kimberly, Deborah Hill Muoio and her husband Alan, all of Cranston. He was the cherished grandfather of Frank Zaino III, Erika Zaino Barry, Christopher Zaino, Jeffrey Hill Jr., and David Muoio. Adored great-grandfather of Austin, Alanniah, Savella, Emerson, Logan, Kai, Lennon, and Ava. Brother of Sharon Cormier of Orlando and the late Virginia Madden. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 16th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. His Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday, April 17th, at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
