92, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Della Y. (Scolardi) DeSpirito. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Nicolina (Pontarelli) DeSpirito.
He was an employee of American Tourister until retirement in 1995. He proudly served in the Army infantry and cavalry in WWII. A resident of Providence until moving to Cranston in 1964. Anthony was and avid fan of the Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox. His favorite pastime was being with his grandchildren. He was known for his friendly, easygoing demeanor and was liked by all. He always put others before himself and was ready to help when needed.
Anthony is survived by his loving children, Anthony J. DeSpirito, Jr., who was a constant companion and caregiver for quite some time, David DeSpirito and his wife Andrea, and Karen Nastari and her husband Ernest; cherished grandchildren Regina DeSpirito and Nicholas Nastari; dear brothers Alfred and Joseph DiSpirito. He was the brother of the late Julio and Ida DeSpirito, Salvatore DiSpirito, and Anna Acciardo.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Sunday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
