Araxy (Sagherian) Avedisian

died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the age of 97. She was the beloved wife of the late Jiray Avedisian.  Born in NYC, she was the daughter of the late Melkon and Takouhy (Pashalian) Sagherian, a survivor of the Armenian genocide.

   A faithful communicant of Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Church, she was a member of the Women’s Guild, Ladies Aid, and Senior Citizens. Araxy was honored asMother of the Year, and Parishioner of the Year. She was also a member of the Daughters of Vartan, Aik Otyag #10.

   She was a devoted mother and is survived by her three children, Joyce Avedisian of Pawtucket, Joan Avedisian and husband Robert Cohen of New York and South Kingstown, and Gregory Avedisian and wife Linda of Charlestown; four grandchildren, the loves of her life, Nicholas, Mikayla, Jiray, and Mackenzie.  She was the cherished sister of Ara Sagherian of CA, and the late Hagop (Jack) Sagherian and Sirpouhie Bashian, nieces and nephews.

  Her funeral service will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Church, 70 Jefferson St., Providence.  Interment will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. VISITING HOURS are 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday morning in the church.
