Darryl was the eldest of 5 children, born on December 5, 1942 in Skowhegan, Maine to David and Madeline (Porter) Stickney. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandparents, Nelson and Annie (Stinson) Porter, on their farm in Skowhegan.

As a young child, the family relocated from Maine to North Kingstown where Darryl graduated from North Kingstown High School in 1961.

Darryl proudly served in the US Army from 1964-1966 being stationed in Vietnam. He reached the rank of Spec/5, and spent his time as a helicopter repair technician.

After serving his country, Darryl was a dedicated employee at Carbon Technology in Exeter for more than 30 years.

Darryl married Anne Marie (Moio) in 1971 which brought 46 years of wedded bliss to his life. He was a devoted husband, father, and proud grampa who sincerely cherished his family and genuinely valued his longtime friendships. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Finding a joy for travel in retirement, Darryl visited Alaska, Canada, Germany, Italy, China, and Japan as well as several North American cities from coast to coast to see the Red Sox play on the road. He was also a longtime fan of the New England Patriots. Darryl enjoyed many trips to southern Connecticut, trying his luck in games of chance. Darryl will always be remembered for his kind eyes, gentle demeanor, and soft spoken disposition.

He is also survived by brothers Steven of West Greenwich, Earl (Marge Coutu) of Exeter, sister Joanne (Arnold) Sargent of Coventry, brother-in-law David Salisbury, and was predeceased by his sister Charlotte Salisbury.
