John D'Antuono Obituary

John Michael D'Antuono

53, of Portsmouth Rhode Island, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of Charlotte (Harrington) D'Antuono, and the son of John R. and Elaine (Villa) D'Antuono.  Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his loving children Felecia and Johnathon.  He is also survived by his brother Glenn D'Antuono and his wife Robin, his Uncle David D'Antuono and Aunt Emma Loux, his niece Lindsay and her husband Nicholas, and nephews Jake and Sumner.  He is also survived by many cousins whom he loved dearly.

Michael grew up in Providence where he attended grade school. He graduated from LaSalle Academy.  He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bryant University.  Additionally, he was a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the CPA Society.  Prior to entering into city government, Michael worked as a Page at the Rhode Island State House.

For nearly 30 years Michael held an array of positions within city government. Most recently Michael held dual titles of Business Manager for the Providence School Department, and City Controller for the City of Providence. Throughout his employment with the City, Michael received many accolades; in August 2018 he was presented with the Key to the City by the Mayor's office.

Michael was admired and well respected by all who knew him. He presented with integrity and the utmost professionalism at all times.  He leaves behind an amazing team, many of whom he considered not only to be invaluable employees, but also his extended family.

Michael was a dear friend to many - some may recall him as "Tike". In recent weeks he was visited often, during which he took great joy in reminiscing about his younger years, camping with friends, local sports and his love for his community and family.  Michael was a loyal Patriot's fan and he took great joy in attending all of his son's Pop Warner, football games.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main Street, Warren, R.I., 02885; burial will follow.
