87, of Cranston passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Philip Hulitar Hospice and Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Marcoux) Lamantia. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Giovanni and Edith (Kelly) Lamantia. Mr. Lamantia worked for the City of Cranston in the highway department then he was a building inspector before his retirement. John was a US Marine veteran serving during the Korean war. Mr. Lamantia was a former state president and member of the Elks Lodge BPOE; he was also a former district deputy of RI East.
John is survived by his loving children, John C. Lamantia of Cranston, David W. Lamantia and his wife Pauline of Smithfield and Debra A. DiNofrio and her husband Chris of Cranston. He was the cherished grandfather of four and great-grandfather of four. John was the brother of Dolores Pratt and Mickey Lamantia both of Cranston and the late Edith Gonsalves.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Friday, January 18th, at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Apostles Church, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Burial is strictly private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
