Welcome to the memorial page for

Kim Xin Von

August 12, 1936 ~ October 26, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Kim Xin Von born August 12, 1929 in China and moved to Laos at the age of 19 where he met his wife.

They got married and had 8 kids. 4 girls, 4 boys.

Kim Xin Von was always known as a family man, hardworking and ambitious. He loved to cook for his family and always made sure there was food on the table.

Kim Xin Von made a living by selling ice cream to the locals while their kids went to school. He was always there to provide for his family. In 1968, his wife passed away after the birth of their youngest child.

He has 2 kids currently residing in Laos while the rest of his kids have settled and raised their own family in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Canada, and Louisiana.

In 1980, Kim Xin Von came to the US where he first lived in Louisiana. After a few years working in the pepper fields and raising farm animals, Kim Xin Von moved to Rhode Island and settled to live a long, happy life raising all 19 grandkids and lived to see 13 great grand kids.

He always made sure his grandkids were well fed and loved to watch them make jokes, while he sat silently with the biggest smile on his face. If he wasn’t watching his grandkids, he was always playing MahJong, his favorite Chinese Card Game. Though he was never the best at it and most of his kids and grandkids took his money, it was the laughs and memories that he enjoyed the most.

We will always remember you & your love for MahJong. We will all miss walking in to see you sitting in your chair watching The Price is Right, but we know you are in a much better place with JaPo. We love you Goong.
