Pareskevi “Viola” (Markou) Degaitas

91, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, February 9, 2018, at home. She was the beloved wife of the late John S. Degaitas. Born in Engares, Naxos, Greece, she was a daughter of the late Theofanie and Anna (Touloupi) Markou. Viola along with her late husband were the owners of John’s New York System since 1948.

She was the devoted mother of Theofanie Degaitas of CA, James Degaitas of Johnston, Nicholas Degaitas of North Providence, Charles Degaitas of Cranston, Paul Degaitas of Cranston, Henry Degaitas of Cranston, and the late Stanley Degaitas. Viola was the cherished grandmother of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920.
