Robert V. Stearns, Sr.

80, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at South County Hospital, Wakefield. He was the beloved husband of fifty-seven years to Loretta A. (Stannard) Stearns. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Granville and Hazel (Rahon) Stearns. Robert was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War era. He was a steamfitter, and member of Union Local # 51, East Providence. He was employed for over forty years by Hart Engineering of Woonsocket. Robert was an avid golfer, sailor, enjoyed working in his yard and gardens, and especially spending time with his family.

Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Patricia A. Vitullo and her husband Michele of West Warwick, Robert V. Stearns, Jr. and his wife Kerri of Worcester, MA, Joseph G. Stearns and his wife Jennifer of Narragansett, and Timothy K. Stearns and his wife Lorie of Cumberland. He was the cherished grandfather of Allison L. Vitullo, Grace E. Stearns, Thomas K. Stearns, Madison E. Stearns, and Rebecca E. Stearns. He was the brother of Jeanette Dedek of Florida, and the late Granville Stearns and Hazel Wilcox.

Funeral from the Nardolillo Funeral Home, SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road (Rt.1A) , Narragansett on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett. Burial with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS Sunday 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 State Street, Suite 200, Providence, RI 02908.
