Rock Proia Obituary

58, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.  He was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Hannigan) Proia.  Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Americo and Josephine (Capoverdi) Proia.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Brian Marshall and his wife Lynn, Nathan Marshall and his wife Meghan, and Daniel Proia; cherished grandchildren Dustin and Andrew Marshall; dear siblings Arleen Notardonato, Barbara Colangelo, Diane VanBost, Charlotte Holm, Richard Proia, Paula Proia and Robert Proia.  He was the brother of the late Carol Magness Proia.

Rock had many interests, including his love of the ocean and fishing starting at an early age. Camping with loved ones and being the captain on his boat the “Shinebox” at the lake was a weekend enjoyment. Rock also took pleasure in restoring and driving his 1980 Corvette, which was only one of his many personal projects.

Rock built an amazing, warm and extraordinary home for his family and friends to be together in. He had the heart to envision what he wanted and the skill to build it. Most importantly, his family was the most rewarding thing to him and he worked endlessly to provide for them.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Rocco’s Church, Johnston.  Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS are Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m.
