Carmela (DiFruscio) Nastari

89, of North Providence, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Miriam Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Paschal “Pat” Nastari. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Carmino and Antonetta (Verrillo) DiFruscio.

She was the loving mother of Steven, Paul and Michael Nastari; grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 1; sister of Mary Campiano, Tina Colafrancisco and the late John DiFruscio, Ida Lurgio, Elena Mallette and Anna Perreria.

Carmela started as an office clerk at People’s Furniture Store in Providence, then attended and graduated from Bryant University. She went on to become a bookkeeper for N. Levy, Fashion Jewelry, Rim Jewelry, Dorothy Williams and Alan Jewelry. In 1999 she retired from Cellini, Inc. in Providence. After retirement, she worked with her son Michael at the Teakwood Florist in Johnston. Carmela was also an active member of the Salvatore Mancini Senior Center where she was a volunteer and sewing instructor. She was also a member of and former vice president of the Sons of Italy, as well as past president of St. Ann’s Solidarity of St. Anthony’s Church in North Providence.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 9:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will take place in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. VISITING HOURS will be held on Sunday from 4 – 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to: Apert International, Inc.
