Salvatore Antonio Costantino, affectionately known as Sam, passed away on September 7, 2023 at the age of 86 at Lakewood Ranch Hospice, Florida after a 10 year battle with cancer, with Pat his wife beside him. Born on October 5, 1936, in Providence, Rhode Island, Sam was a loving husband, father, and Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Sam had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. He enjoyed traveling in his RV and motorcycle, exploring new places and experiencing new adventures. He had a particular passion for antique cars and would often enter car shows with his beloved 1951 Mercury. Sam also found joy in snowmobiling and spending quality time with his family and friends. His favorite pastime was going to the gym, where he dedicated himself to staying fit and healthy.

Before retiring to Sun City Center, Florida, Sam owned his own Auto Repair Service in Warwick, Rhode Island, for over 20 years. He was a skilled auto mechanic and took great pride in his work. Later on, he worked in construction as a finished carpenter in New Hampshire. Woodworking became both his career and his hobby, showcasing his talent and craftsmanship.

Sam served in the Army from 1955 to 1957, demonstrating his dedication to his country. His military associations were an important part of his life and shaped his character.

In addition to his military service and career, Sam had a wide range of hobbies that brought him joy. He loved woodworking, spending hours crafting beautiful pieces with his skilled hands. He also enjoyed boating, riding his motorcycle, and snowmobiling, relishing in the thrill of the open road. Sam's passion for travel led him to explore various destinations in his RV, creating cherished memories along the way. His love for antique cars continued throughout his life, as he appreciated their timeless beauty.

Sam is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Costantino, and to five children: Sal Costantino Jr of Cranston, Rhode Island; Nancy (Lee) Midyette of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Joann Costantino of Clinton, Massachusetts; Stephen Costantino of Cranston, Rhode Island; and Christina (Randy) Duncan of Lakeland, Florida. He was also a loving grandfather to five grandchildren: Robert Scott, Kelsey Rosa, Vincent Florio, Salvatore III, and Brianna Florio, as well as a step-granddaughter, Cheyenne Midyette. Sam cherished his targe great-granddaughters: Isabella and Carmella Florio, Mikayla Rosa, and step-great-granddaughter Kaiah Ellison. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley (David) Fogell, and brother, Ben Costantino. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Viola Costantino, and his brother, Anthony Costantino.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rocco’s Church, Johnston.  Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS will be Sunday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Sam's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Sam had a generous spirit and cared deeply about the well-being of others, making this organization a fitting choice to honor his memory.

Salvatore "Sam" Costantino will be remembered as a kindhearted and adventurous man who brought joy to those around him. His legacy of love, dedication, and passion will forever be cherished by his family and friends.  May he rest in eternal peace.
