A. Roger Guillemette

81, of Narragansett, died Friday, June 5th. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Joseph Arthur and Yvonne (Roy) Guillemette, both Canadian born. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Claudette Joyal Guillemette. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Jeanne Steers with her husband Chris of Roxbury, CT, Diane Guillemette of West Warwick; and two sons, Richard Guillemette with his wife Yris, Dino Trotta with his wife Kerry, all of West Warwick; his five beloved grandchildren, Benjamin Arthur Steers, Allison Hee Jin Steers, Maximus Madera Guillemette, Jake Matthew Guillemette and Serafina Hayes Trotta. He is also survived by his brother Albert Guillemette of West Warwick and Florida. Roger graduated from Coventry High School and served as a machinist in the US Army, 600th Engineering Aviation Maintenance Co. He was stationed in Korea and Mineral Wells, Texas. He and his wife Claudette raised their four children in the village of Phenix, RI where they hosted many a sing-a-long around their piano. Among the many other things in life he thoroughly enjoyed, Roger loved playing Skip-Bo with his family and friends. An entrepreneur, he established several businesses throughout his lifetime, creating long-term steady employment opportunities for many people. Guill Tool & Engineering Company was established in 1962 and remains in operation today. He has been a fierce advocate for US manufacturing on local and national levels; participating in many organizations as well as advocating for STEM education in the state of Rhode Island. His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 13th, at 7:45 a.m. from the Nardolillo Funeral Home SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road (Rt. 1A), Narragansett, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:45 am in St. Veronica's Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett. Internment with military honors will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS: Friday from 4:00-8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Johnny Cake Center of Peace Dale, 1231 Kingstown Rd., Peace Dale, RI 02879.
