Albert H. Shackleton, Jr.

November 18, 1927 — December 27, 2016

Albert H. Shackleton, Jr.

89, of Singer Island, FL passed away peacefully on December 27, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Rose) Shackleton for 66 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Albert H. and Sarah (Edmundson) Shackleton, Sr.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children; Deborah Thomson and her husband Robert; Clayton Shackleton and his wife Robbin; and Steven Shackleton. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Stephanie, Clayton, Lindsey, Julia, and Courtney; and two great grandchildren: Gregory and Charlotte.

Albert served his country in World War II as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a real estate developer, who built residential and commercial properties throughout New England and Florida. Albert was also an investor and entrepreneur in various fields of business.

In his youth he enjoyed sport fishing, participating in the United States Atlantic Tuna tournament in Galilee, RI and sailing at the Rhode Island Yacht Club. Very much a loving family man, he enjoyed taking his family on many vacations and cruises to destinations around the world, and on ski trips and bus meets, as a member of Family Motor Coach Association (Member #1767). He was an avid tennis player for as long as he could play. Later in life he enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will always be affectionately known to them as their Grampy.

Never one to retire even though he tried many times, Albert continued to enjoy his career as a real estate developer and investor right up until his passing. Services are private. He will be laid to rest at RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter this Spring.
