82, of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 11, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island, Sonny leaves a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to those who knew him.
A skilled carpenter, Sonny dedicated much of his professional life to the family businesses: SD Generali Brothers and Generali Brothers Construction. He later retired from Calson Corporation, where he was well-respected for his craft and commitment. Sonny approached his work with a sense of pride and integrity, reflecting the values he held dear throughout his life.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Sonny was a devoted family man, taking immense pride in his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Hart) Generali, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage. The joy of his life was reflected in the eyes of his daughter, Jeri-Lynn Silva, and her husband Joseph, as well as his granddaughter, Sydney Silva, and step-grandchildren Abigail and Makenna Silva. Sonny also held a special place in his heart for Eddie Mann and Mary DiMuccio, two remarkable individuals he had the honor of helping raise. He is additionally remembered by many nieces and nephews, each of whom he cherished deeply.
Sonny's interests included word searches, and reading the newspaper, pursuits that kept his mind engaged and brought him joy. Throughout his life, he valued the simple pleasures that brought him happiness, all while making lasting memories with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aldofo and Fenizia (Baldini) Generali, and his siblings, Mary, Yolanda, Dora, Anna, William "Billy," Silvio "Chief," Peter "Dude," Adolph "Chick," and Domenic "Donnie" Generali. Their spirits live on in the stories and lessons Sonny imparted throughout his life.
His funeral will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 8:45am from the NARDOIILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Thursday from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Church, 18 King Philip Street, Providence, RI 02909.
