82, of Wild Berry Drive, Cranston, a retired fruit and produce business owner, died on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Doris (Ricci) Conti. Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Angelina (Capobianco) and Sullivan Conti. He lived in Cranston most of his life.
Mr. Conti was co-owner with his brother Sal of the former Conti Brothers, Inc., a wholesale fruit and produce business in Providence for 42 years before retiring in 1993. He was a 1949 graduate of LaSalle Academy and an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He co-founded the Conti Brothers Softball Team, which his company sponsored for more than 30 years. He was elected to the Rhode Island Softball Hall of Fame in 1993.
He leaves a daughter, Cheryl Andrews and her husband Dennis of Warwick, a son, Alfred Conti Jr. and his wife Loretta of Providence; three grandchildren, Christopher Andrews and wife Julie, Kayla Neveux and husband Norman and Jennifer Conti; and two great-grandsons, Aidan and Jace. He was the brother of the late Marie J. Alves and Salvatore P. Conti, Jr.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Ave., Cranston. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
