95, of Kingston, R.I. passed away peacefully Saturday, September 19, 2015 at his Kingston residence.
Born and raised in Brooklyn New York, Alfred was the beloved son of Alfred and Julia (Eppig) Dedreux of Brooklyn, New York. He is the beloved husband of Penelope (Marandou) Dedreux. He was married to the only women he ever loved for 67 years. During their marriage he raised a family in East Meadow, New York, retired to Florida in 1984 and spent the last of his years in Rhode Island. He loved to fish, vacation with his family, and in his later years take peaceful walks around the park.
He attended St. John's Prep High School in Brooklyn New York. During World War II he served 32 months at the rank of SSgt as an Aerial Engineer Gunner (748). He studied maintenance and repair on B-24, B25, B-26's and B-29's. He specialized in work on B-29 bombers in the Pacific theatre. After 35 months he was discharged from the 484th Bomb Group Army Air Force. He worked for Getty Oil Company in Long Island City, N.Y. for 35 years.
He is survived by two children, Bill Dedreux of Kingston, Rhode Island and Adrienne H. Dedreux of Alexandria, Virginia. In addition, he has three grandchildren, Michelle Kennedy, Jonathan Lane, and Sean Lane; and five great-grandchildren, Alexis, John, Christina, Julia and Damien.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 from 10:00am-11:00am with a memorial service at 11:00am, in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory-SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road (Rt. 1A), Narragansett followed by a private burial at the Rhode Island Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
