Alfred J. Palumbo (Capt. CFD, Ret.)

91, of Cranston, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores A. (Salvati) Palumbo. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Frank A. Palumbo and Margaret (Mongone) Grover.

Alfred was a City of Cranston firefighter for 42 years retiring with the rank of captain in 1989; and was a corporal in the U.S. Army during WW-II. He was a member of Cranston Permanent Firefighters Association; and Italian American War Veterans Post #8 in Cranston. Alfred loved the ocean and was an avid model boat builder. He loved animals, but more than anything, he loved his family.

He was the devoted father of Alfred J. Palumbo, Jr. of Cranston, Barbara A. Palumbo and her companion Katherine M. Martin of New London, CT, David M. Palumbo of Cranston and Lisa M. Palumbo of St. Petersburg, FL; loving grandfather of Adam P. Martin and his wife Armida of Somerton, AZ; loving great-grandfather of Katherine B. Martin; and dear brother of the late Pasquale Palumbo and Frank A. Palumbo, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 11th at 11 a.m. in St. Bartholomew's Church, 305 Laurel Hill Ave., Providence, followed by burial with military honors at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston.
