Alma E. Ash

Alma E. Ash, 99 of Johnston, passed away Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, with her beloved family by her side. Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Emelio and Amelia (Cerra) DeFazio Sr. She was the wife of the late Raymond A. Ash. Alma devoted her life to her family and expressed her love through cooking. She was the life of the party, and always had a passionate story that would leave everyone in the room laughing. As a devote catholic, she would pray daily for the health and happiness of all those she loved. Alma was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving daughter Sandra E. Benevides, grandmother of Melissa Fredrick, Francis Fredrick and Stephanie Santaniello & husband, Matthew. She was the adored great grandmother of Alexander, Vincent, and Sophia Santaniello. She also leaves a brother Emelio DeFazio, Jr. and wife Jennie. She was also a special Auntie to her many nieces and nephews. Especially her niece Shirley and her family and her nephew Bobby and his family.  She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah Fredrick, and her five sisters Josephine Calestino, Maggie Riccitelli, Margaret “Peggy” Riccitelli, Julia Scungio, and Esther DonFrancisco.Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 11:00 am in St. Rocco’s Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISTING HOURS will be held Thursday morning from 8:30 - 10:30 AM at THE NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, RI. In lieu of flowers her family requests any donations be made to St. Rocco’s Church.
