Alma M. (LaRoche) Schmitt

73, of Hope Valley, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at South County Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Howard Schmitt. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Rene and Alma (Beausejour) LaRoche. Alma was employed as a school bus driver for the town of East Greenwich for many years before her retirement. Her true passion was also her true talent, a seamstress. She made her daughter's wedding dresses and suits for her son and husband. Alma was also an avid Scrabble player. She was a devoted member of the Greater Rhode Island Baptist Temple.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her loving children, Theresa Schmitt of Texas, Deana Willcutt and her husband Robert of Warwick, Robin Frazier and her husband Franklin of Hope Valley, and Howard Schmitt and his wife Lori of Amarillo, TX; cherished grandchildren Joseph, Christina, Jillian, James, Jessica, Jennifer, Rebecca, Dallas and Joshua; 6 great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Benjamin, Johnathan, Ethan, Quaylin and Andrew; dear siblings, Rene LaRoche, Marie Louise James, Betty Sloane, Mary Davenport, Jean Barnes, Rita Ducharme, Anthony LaRoche, Laura Noyes, Matthew LaRoche and the late Margie Bolm and James LaRoche. Alma's burial will be private and a memorial service will be held at a later time.
