Amelio Sciacca

passed away suddenly on September 19, 2025 with his loving daughter by his side. He was 91 years old. He was born in Roccamonfina, Italy on May 14, 1934 to Ernestina and Giuseppe Sciacca and was one of seven children. In 1954, he and his brother immigrated to the United States in search of opportunity and through hard work and an unwavering sense of determination, settled in Rhode Island. He met and later married the love of his life, Rose Stabile, and together they had two children, Susan and Michael. A skilled tailor by trade, in 1978, he and his wife made the difficult decision to move to Houston, Texas for a better opportunity. He brought with him the same principles of hard work, faith, and family and built a life that honored those values every single day.

Amelio was an honest man of few words and his quiet presence spoke volumes. He found joy in the simple things, sitting outside in the sunshine, sharing meals with family and friends, and telling stories of his youth in Italy. He was a prayerful man, a devoted Catholic, with a strong faith and love for the Lord. Above all, Amelio loved his family more than anything and that love was unconditional to the very end. After his wife died, he was cared for by his daughter who never left his side and her presence was a constant reminder of the bond between a father and a child.

To his family, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and the rock of his family. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Rose, mother Ernestina, father Guiseppe, sisters Evelina, Elia, and Lina. He is survived by his daughter Susan, son Michael, grandson Cameron, brothers Anthony and Luigi, sister Tommasina, many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends who cherished him deeply.

His funeral will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 9 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rocco’s Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston.
