Andrew R. "Butch" Spirito, Sr., 81, of Cranston passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday October 14, 2025, at home. Born on February 12, 1944, in Providence he was the son of the late Michael Spirito, Sr. and the late Lillian (Spirito) Martini . He was the beloved husband of Ann (Paliotti) Spirito, they shared nearly 62 years of marriage.
He was graduate of Cranston High School (now known as Cranston East), an accomplished wrestler and football player he was a varsity athlete for both teams, this was the start of a life long love for all sports. Butch was a hardworking and dedicated man, spending over 40 years in the jewelry manufacturing industry. Prior to his retirement in 2000 he spent the better part of 20 years as a respected employee and colleague, at UBIO, where his attention to detail, and work ethic set a great example. After retirement he became an avid reader, biographies were always a favorite, but the best book by his standards that he read and reread was the book his son authored. This moment gave both father and son great joy.
His love for sports were most evident in his traditional New Englander love for his home teams- the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox. If he wasn't watching a sporting event of his favorite team you could place a bet that he was watching the horse or dog races, that really captured his enthusiasm for all sports.
Butch was the devoted father of Andrew R. Spirito, Jr. and his wife Julie, Christopher Spirito and his wife Regina, and Dawn Ferranti and her husband Frank. He was the cherished "Papa" of his six grandchildren who brought laughter, and pride to his life; Jenna (Spirito) LaValley and her husband Andrew, Talia Spirito, Drew Spirito, Daniella, Juliana, and Annissa Ferranti. He was the loving brother of Michael Spirito and his wife Marsha, David Spirito and his wife Donna, and Donna Capaldi and her husband Ray. He was the bother of the late Barbara D'Areinzo.
