80, of Bristol, formerly a Barrington resident for forty-three years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Miriam Hospital, Providence, after a long struggle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of sixty-one years to Carroll F. Promades of Bristol. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late George A. Panas, Sr. and Anna Christopoulos. Angela was a homemaker and co-owner of Spumoni’s Restaurant in Pawtucket and Twelve Acres in Smithfield. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, Cranston and the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society.
Angela was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and best friend who found time to devote to the family businesses. She loved organizing and preparing family feasts for holidays, summer cook-outs, and the weekly Tuesday night dinners complete with homemade Greek pastries and her signature strawberry ice cream meringue pie. She enjoyed reading, knitting and needlepoint. She loved to travel with family to Europe, the Cape, the White Mountains, the South County beaches as well as Sunday trips to visit aunts, uncles and cousins all over New England. She will be remembered for her caring nature, unconditional love, devotion, and loyalty to her family and friends. Angela will be forever deeply adored as a wife and mother.
Besides her husband she is survived by her loving children, Frederick C. Promades of Middletown, George C. Promades and his wife Gina of Barrington, Carole-Anne S. Sanchas of Barrington, Jane A. Tigano and her husband William of Pawtucket, Cheryl A. Hosey and her husband James of Barrington, and Christopher C. Promades and his wife Maribeth of Barrington. Angela was the cherished “Yiayia” of seven grandsons, Nicholas, Christopher, Georgie, Matthew, Michael, Myles, Christopher “Bumpy”, and her beloved granddaughter “her princess” Angelina. She was the sister of George A. Panas, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Seekonk, MA, and the late Mary “Mickey” Panas Boisselle. Angela is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service and burial will be private. VISITING HOURS are respectfully omitted.
