96, of Narragansett, RI passed away on Monday, June 30th surrounded by his family. Born in New Haven, CT on August 9, 1918 he was the son of the late Liberato and Modestina Riccitelli and brother of the late Philomena Russo and Anthony Riccitelli. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to the late Antonetta "Annette"(DePonte) Riccitelli. He lived most of his life in Hamden Connecticut and was a member of the first graduating class of Hamden High School in 1936.
He proudly served his country in World War II as a US Navy Seabee with the 42nd Battalion in the Pacific Theater and returned home in 1945 with an Honorable Discharge. While in the Navy, he married Annette DePonte, on Friday, October 13, 1944. Angelo worked as a commercial plumbing foreman for Buckingham Routh Company in New Haven for forty years before retiring. He was a loyal member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 777 and the American Legion, Post 150 for over 65 years. Angelo and Annette raised three children after settling in Hamden, CT, where they spent many wonderful summer days at Paradise Country Club and winters relaxing in Florida.
He was the devoted father of Anita J. Langer, James A. Riccitelli and wife Nancy, and Maryann Killoy and husband John Jr. all of Narragansett; loving grandfather of Michael Langer and wife Martha, Derek Langer, James Riccitelli and wife Maria, Kellyn Hautaniemi and husband Justin, John Killoy III and wife Meghan, Brian Killoy and fiancAC. Dr. Katherine Germansky, Kristin Killoy, and Michael Patrick Killoy; and Bichon Daisy.
"Pop," as he was known to family and friends, was a member of the Greatest Generation. He instilled the same values of family, personal responsibility, duty, honor and faith to his children and grandchildren who will sadly miss him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 9th at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St., Narragansett. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
