85, of Cranston, passed away peacefully of a brain aneurism on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Umberto “Bert” Tomassone. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Gennaro and Lucy (Lepore) Napolitano.
Anna graduated from Jo-An School of Beauty Culture on April 27, 1959 and became a cosmetologist for over 40 years and owned and operated the Oaklawn Beauty Salon in Cranston for many years. She received her GED at the age 65. Anna played the piano and sang. She served as an officer at the Tabor Franchi VFW Post and coordinated many fund raiser dinners. Cooking was her forte and no one ever left her house hungry. Her legacy was sealed when she starred in cooking video.
Anna was the devoted mother of Gloria Settle and her husband David of Boylston, MA and Bert Tomassone; loving grandmother of Laura Settle of Boylston, MA; and dear sister of Sylvia Strickland and the late Michelina DiMascio, Elizabeth Celeste and Domenic “Tony” Napolitano. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends and faithful neighbors, Debbie and Edgar Vasquez.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday, May 4th at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Matthews Church, 1291 Elwood Ave., Cranston at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are WEDNESDAY MORNING from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
