70, passed away on October 12, 2025, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City after a short, courageous and dignified battle with illness.
Born on October 4, 1955, to the late Pasco and Agata (Parenti) DiOrio, Anthony grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island with a strong sense of family, faith, and hard work. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Joseph DiOrio. He is survived by his loving sons, Anthony “Tony” DiOrio and Nicholas DiOrio, daughter, Alayna Murphy (Patrick) their mother Carla Sartini DiOrio, and his beloved dog Sadie. He also leaves behind his devoted sister Janice Hay-Chartier (Rick), his brother Pat DiOrio (Dorothy) and many nieces and nephews who knew him fondly as Uncle Toe.
Anthony was a proud graduate of Cranston High School East (Class of 1973). He pursued higher education with a passion for ideas and justice, studying philosophy and earning his bachelor’s degree from Boston College in 1977. He went on to attend St. John’s University School of Law, graduating in 1980. He began his career as a litigation attorney in New York City before returning to Rhode Island to open his own private practice of law in 1985. In 1998, Anthony moved his family to Carmel, New York to join the White Plains office of the Law Firm of Jackson Lewis, where he was a partner and a founding member of the Barolo Society. He dedicated himself to his clients and colleagues, building lifelong friendships along the way. He retired in the fall of 2020 and moved to Sarasota, Florida. There he enjoyed going to the beach, riding his e-bike, walking his dog downtown, listening to live music, and spending time with friends and family.
Anthony’s zest for life extended beyond the courtroom. He was an avid car enthusiast with his pride and joy being a 1965 Shelby Cobra replica he built in his garage and took to many local car shows. He held a private pilot’s license and enjoyed cruising on his motorcycle. He was a member of the New York Riders Club and helped organize and ride for various charitable causes in the Hudson Valley. In addition, countless memories were made at the family vacation home in the Adirondacks where winters were spent snowmobiling and summers spent boating. As a proud Italian American, he was often found in the kitchen making his famous gravy and meatballs among many other dishes he perfected throughout the years.
Anthony faced every day with humor, a big heart, and a determination to provide for those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and by the countless friends and colleagues whose lives he touched.
