97, of Johnston, passed away on Tuesday February 16, 2016 at Morgan Health Center, Johnston surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dora (Vescuso) Rossi. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Arduino and Assunta (Carcieri) Rossi. Anthony was a meat cutter for A&P for many years, before retiring and was a WW-II Army veteran, where he held the light-weight boxing title. He was a member of the Highland Rod & Gun Club and Madonna Della Fesa Society. He was an avid HiLo Jack player, New York Yankee Fan an enjoyed his Cigars.
He was the beloved father of Shirley Ann Tassoglou and her husband Angelo of Providence and Doreen Angela Lawrence of Johnston; loving grandfather of Michael Paul Lawrence, and Melissa Lynn Cornell; loving great-grandfather of Gabriella Maddox Cornell; dear brother of Louis Rossi of Johnston and the late Dan Rossi, Albert Rossi, Anna DeQuattro, Joseph Rossi and Edward Rossi.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave. Johnston, followed by burial with military honors in Highland Memorial Park Johnston. Visiting hours are Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston.
