Anthony "Tony" J. Liberatore, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, in Providence, Rhode Island. He was born on July 25, 1944, in Providence, and dedicated his life to both his community and family, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Tony's career was distinguished and impactful. He served with dedication as the Director of the Cranston Parks and Recreation Department from 2007 to 2020, during which his leadership was recognized with the 2013 Department of the Year award and the 2019 John "Jack" Cronin award. His commitment to public service went beyond his role in parks and recreation; he was also the GE Union President from 1970 to 1978 and proudly held the position of President of Liberatore Enterprises from 1989 to 2004.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Tony earned an Associate's degree from Johnson and Wales University, showcasing his commitment to education and personal growth. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War era, reflecting his dedication to service and sacrifice.

Tony was not only a dedicated professional and family man, but he also made a lasting impact on the youth of Cranston through his passion for coaching. He devoted over 40 years to coaching youth baseball, instilling values of teamwork and sportsmanship in countless young athletes.

A devoted family man, he cherished his wife Kristina (Jernquist) Liberatore, with 35 years together they created a loving home. Tony is survived by his children; Joseph A. Liberatore, Michael J. Liberatore, Charrel N. Liberatore, and Anthony D. Liberatore. He was a proud grandfather to Danielle, Ashley, Jacob, Juliana, Collin, Kairi, and Lana, and he delighted in the joy of being a great-grandfather to Jayden. Tony’s sister, Ann Marie Gemma, also mourns the loss of her beloved brother.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Domenic and Filomena (Testa) Liberatore, who were a vital part of his life.

VISITING HOURS will be held on Thursday, December 4th from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston.

His Funeral will be held on Friday, December 5th at 9:45 a.m. from the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
