A beloved husband and father passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 89. Tony, as he liked to be called, lived a life marked by devotion to his family. A talented professional, early in his career Tony was a partner along with his brothers for Santa Sons Inc., where he focused on plumbing, heating, and construction. After many successful years in the industry, he transitioned to the role of Chief Plumbing Inspector for the City of Providence, a position he held for many years before retiring.
Tony proudly served in the United States Army during peacetime, an experience that instilled in him values of duty, integrity, and service that he carried throughout his life. He was always ready with a warm smile and a great sense of humor that endeared him to those around him.
His passions extended beyond his career. Tony enjoyed gardening, and even when his abilities declined, he found joy in watching Al and Linda Pare tend to his garden. He took pride in his yard work and was known for his culinary skills, especially during the holiday season. Christmas Eve gatherings with his family was a highlight of his year and reflected his deep appreciation for family and friendship.
Residing in Lincoln, Rhode Island, Tony found happiness sitting in the yard watching Shea, Eva, and Lucy play in the swimming pool during warm summer days. He cherished the time spent with his daughter Kim, with whom he shared a profound friendship and incredible bond, solidified over many years of loving support and shared experiences. Traveling to Florida and New Hampshire brought him joy, as he created lasting memories with his family in beautiful settings.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marilyn (Imondi) Santagata, who was not only his spouse but also his soulmate. He leaves behind his devoted daughter, Kim Luca, and her partner, Ashley Ferranti and their children Shea, Eva, and Lucy Ferranti. Tony is also survived by his sister, Gloria Price, and his brother, Raymond Santagata. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elviro and Anna Rose (Leonardo) Santagata, and his three brothers, Thomas, Herbert, and William Santagata. The care provided by his caretakers, Diane, Mona, and Claire, who treated him like family until the very end, reflects the warmth and kindness that surrounded his life.
