88, of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of hard work, generosity, and devotion to his family.
Born in Providence, he was the devoted son of the late Meron and Satenig (Dulgarian) Arevian.
A proud Armenian, Arthur was a man of strength, determination, and unwavering character. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, Navy, and National Guard, carrying with him a deep respect for service and the lasting friendships he shared with his fellow veterans.
An accomplished carpenter and skilled craftsman, Arthur was the proud owner of Equitable Home Improvement, where he built a successful career through hard work and an exceptional ability to create with his hands. Resourceful and endlessly creative, there was little Arthur couldn’t figure out, fix, or improve. His strong will and determination were as much a part of him as his generosity and willingness to help others.
Arthur’s love of the outdoors was reflected in the pride and joy he found from his farm and his horses. Farming was a passion that brought him a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. He especially enjoyed tending to his gardens and growing his famous tomatoes, which became legendary among family and friends. Arthur also had a lifelong appreciation for antique automobiles, particularly his beloved Cadillac, and enjoyed spending time working on his cars.
Deeply proud of his Armenian heritage, Arthur treasured the traditions that brought family and friends together. He especially enjoyed gatherings and cookouts filled with good company, lively conversation, the sounds of Middle Eastern music, and, of course, his much-loved shish kebab. These were some of life’s simple pleasures that brought him the greatest happiness. Although often serious and strong-willed, Arthur had a way of surprising those around him with moments of humor that made him even more memorable. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories, traditions, and love he shared will remain with those who knew him for generations to come.
Above all, Arthur was devoted to his wife and family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret “Margo” (Nalbandian) Arevian; his daughter, Julie DeCesare, and her husband, Craig; his daughter, Tanya Arevian; and his three cherished grandchildren, Sophia, David, and Michael DeCesare. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Susan Vartian, Sarah Gideon and her husband Vasant and Judy Nalbandian and many loving nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Friday, October 30th at 10 a.m. at Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 70 Jefferson St., Providence, followed by burial with military honors at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. VISITING HOURS are Thursday, October 29th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Arthur’s memory may be made to: American Wild Horse Conservation, 316 California Ave. #527, Reno, NV 89509 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
