Arthur J. Pagano, of Cranston, 95, passed peacefully at home on May 12, 2025. Mr. Pagano was the husband of Olga (Terenzi) Pagano for 73 years. He was the son of the late Arthur L. and Frances (Ciancola) Pagano.
Loving father of Cheryl Pagano Byers and the late Gail Pagano DiPrete. Brother of John (Irene), Anthony (Rosealba) and the late Mario (“Mac”) Pagano (Diane).
Brother-in-law to the late G. John Terenzi (Angela), and to the late Robert and Elaine Colardo. He adored all his nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Mr. Pagano was a graduate of Cranston High School (1947) and the University of Rhode Island where he received a Master’s in Guidance and Counseling in 1967.
He was a teacher, guidance counselor and cooperative education coordinator at Cranston High School West for 35 years.
At Cranston West he served as Coach of the Cranston West Baseball teams for 20 years during which time his teams won six divisional championships and the State Championship in 1975. The 1975 team was inducted to the Cranston Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022. “Coach” was honored by the City of Cranston by a dedication of the Cranston West Baseball field, Arthur J. Pagano Baseball Field in 1991.
An avid golfer and member of the Cranston Country Club and RIGA, he coached golf at Cranston West for 22 years. He was inducted into the Sons of Italy Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Cranston Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. He enjoyed many years volunteering for Amos House and Meals on Wheels.
A communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, he served as lector, usher, officer and member of the St. Joseph’s Men’s Guild.
A Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston will be held on Friday, May 16th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a private burial at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Immaculate Conception Church Music Ministry, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston, RI 02920.
