88, of Pawtucket, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the devoted husband of the late Maria A. (Marino) Pappas. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Paul and Anna (Stavrakos) Pappas. Mr. Pappas was the owner of Arbi Restaurant and Arbi Inn, both in Cranston, as well as many other restaurants. “Tasso” enjoyed trips to Foxwoods. In his younger days, he sang professionally as “Art Paras” and appeared on the Ted Knight Show. He graduated from Central High School, belonged to The Church of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Parish, and was a member of AHEPA.
Mr. Pappas is survived by his loving children; Paul A. Pappas of Pawtucket, Arthur Pappas, Jr. and his wife Susan of Bethlehem, CT and Erica M. Cross and her husband Stephen of North Providence. Mr. Pappas was the cherished grandfather of Meghan, Allison, Ashley, Alexandra, Arthur III, Michael and Matthew. He was also the great-grandfather of Zachariah and dear brother of the late Dr. James, Chris, William, Margie, Lillian and Mollie.
His funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service in The Church of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Parish, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Swan Point Cemetery in Providence. VISITING HOURS are on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
