Augustus Charos, Jr.

Augustus Charos, Jr. 69, of Cranston passed away peacefully on Sunday April 7, 2024.

Born in Newport, he was the second son of Augustus Charos, Sr. and the late Mae (Shackleton) Charos. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1972. He was a graduate of UMASS Amherst where he achieved his Bachelor’s Degree. Thereafter, he attended California Western School of Law in San Diego where he received his Juris Doctorate Degree. He joined the Rhode Island Bar Association in 1983 and his career spanned over 40 years as a passionate and devoted attorney.

Above all, Gus cherished his family. He was the beloved former husband and forever friend to Shirley (Beaudoin) Charos and was the proud father to his son, Augustus A. Charos and his daughter, Ashley Charos-Un and her husband Jayden. He was the beloved grandfather to Samuel and Sophia Charos who referred to him as “HELLO” a name given to him by his grandson as a toddler for his bright and cheery greeting when he would enter a room.  He was the brother of George Charos (Rae), the late Glenn Charos (Sandra) and John Charos (Patricia). Sisters-in-law Lucille Ferdinandi (Michael), Leo R. Beaudoin, Jr., and June Rocchio and her finance John Waddington, and his in laws Leo N. Beaudoin, and the late Clara J. Beaudoin.  He was the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Known for his sense of humor and beautiful head of hair, being a classic movie and classic music aficionado, especially classic rock, and having a love for flashy cars. Always dapper and well-dressed, Gus loved a good time. He was an avid reader, history buff and enjoyed traveling the world, taking many family trips. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and scuba diving.

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, at 11:15 am on Wednesday April 17, 2024, followed by a Mass at 12:00 pm at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Ave, Cranston. Entombment will follow in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston. VISITING HOURS will be held from 9:00 -11:00am.
