Barbara R. (Stannard) Lewis

It is with great sadness that we announce the June 1 passing of Barbara Ruth Lewis, at the age of 86, daughter of Kenneth and Helen Stannard. Raised in Cranston and Bonnet Shores, Barbara attended Bay View Academy and Bryant University, and took considerable pride in being the first female employee at Bonnet Shores Beach Club.

She married her Prince Charming, Harry, at St. Paul's Church in 1962 and began the arduous task of raising their Irish triplets: Michael (Lisa), John, and Susan, so the family moved to Cowesett to benefit from the support of her sisters Loretta, Elaine, and Michaela, and brother, Kenneth.

There, when her kids were not turning her hair gray, she had plenty of time to be an active parishioner at St. Gregory the Great.

Once she became a gramma, a whole new generation filled her heart. Zane (Rowan), Shae, Brendan, Hayley, Robi, and Morgan.

In recent years, she would always check in with her children and grandchildren, sister-in-law Karen Lewis, niece Nicole Schubek, and her longtime friends Vivian Grant, Jackie Denison, and Mary Torgan. It was a treasured time to be with her, witnessing the peace and warmth that comes with the wisdom and humility only age can bring. This made it hard to say goodbye, but we knew her sole wish was to reunite with her officer and gentleman.

Services will be private, and donations in her honor can be made to Hope Hospice in Providence.
