Barry W. Doherty

71, of Providence, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 10, 2016 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of

thirty-nine years to Monique S. (Scanio) Doherty. Born in Brookline, MA he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Helen (Weldon) Doherty. Barry was a self-employed web designer and photographer and the owner of Vast City Photography. He was a web developer for Evergreen Webs and various other web companies. Barry was a member of the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative, VSA Arts of Rhode Island, and the Blackstone Valley Arts Association. His passion was the art of photography and books. He was a graduate of Boston College, Class of 1968. He volunteered at a Cumberland Church and assisted in the formation of a food pantry.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sister JoAnne Connolly of Deerfield, NH. Barry is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was the brother of the late Patricia Doherty and the uncle and godfather of the lateJoseph Connolly.

A service of reflection will be held on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS Saturday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the RI Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Avenue, Providence, RI 02907, RI Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 422 Post Road, Suite 102, Warwick, RI 02888, or the charity of your choice.
