Basil A. Donato

76, of Johnston, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence.  He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (DiBona) Donato.  Born in Central Falls, RI he was the son of the late Anthony and Eugenie (Fahmy) Donato.

Basil was the former owner of The Cookie Lady in Johnston for 30 years before his retirement.  Prior to that he worked as a machinist for many years.  He was an avid sports fan following all of the local teams.  He loved to spend time with his family especially his granddaughters.

Besides his wife he is survived by his loving son, Anthony Donato and his wife Maureen of North Attleboro, MA; cherished grandchildren Nicole and Julie Donato of North Attleboro, MA; dear siblings Josephine Nassaney of Central Falls, Michael Donato and his wife Joanne of North Providence.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Basil the Great Church, 15 Skyview Drive, Lincoln.  Burial will be private.  VISITING HOURS are Sunday 4 – 8 p.m.
